Often, the stories we tell about ourselves give our lives meaning and shape our sense of self.
Dr. Ryan helps individuals and couples to discover stories that enrich and strengthen, encouraging individual and mutual self-empowerment.
Working with Dr. Ryan, you’ll discover misconceptions and unshared or mistaken assumptions about yourself and others to be questioned and rethought. You’ll challenge limiting, “thin” stories, including highlighting exceptions to stereotypical narratives, building stories of resilience, and integrating troubling experience into emerging stories of hope and possibility.
You’ll leave with new tools for engaging with yourself and others more fully. In counseling, you will develop greater capacity to engage in relationships appropriately, tolerate your own thoughts, feelings, and sensations, soothe yourself, become mindful and present, separate past trauma from present events, regulate emotions, manage dependency needs, and read danger cues.
